May and Spanier Receive DURIP for Instrumentation Funding

 Professor Steven May

Professors Steven May and Jonathan Spanier have been awarded a DURIP (Defense University Research Instrumentation Program) grant from the Army Research Office to purchase a Physical Properties Measurement System that will be used to characterize electronic behavior in materials as a function of temperature, electric fields, and applied magnetic fields.

The equipment will enable detailed investigations of the electronic and magnetic properties of complex oxide films and devices, the

results of which may lead to improved electronics, fuel cells, and solar cells. The budget for the award, “Instrumentation for electronic transport and device characterization of oxide heterostructures,” is $247,585.
