MSE Students Pick Up Awards at Annual Drexel University Research Day

The Department of Materials Science and Engineering picked up awards in both the graduate and undergraduate categories at the Drexel University Annual Research Day competition on Thursday, April 23, 2009 held in the Daskalakis Athletic Center (DAC).  

Two MSE students won awards and one received Honorable Mention in the category of Research in Physical Science and Engineering.

Ph.D. student Stephen Nonnenmann (advisor:  Jonathan Spanier) won in the graduate category for his poster, “Finite Curvature-driven Giant Ferroelectric Response in Coaxial Cylindrical Nanostructures.”

Robert C. Ferrier, Jr., double major in MSE and physics (advisor:  Christopher Li) won in the undergraduate category for his poster, “Janus Magnetic Nanoparticles: Synthesis, Architectures, and Applications” which also placed first at the College of Arts and Sciences poster competition.

Additionally, Ph.D. student David Turner (advisor:  Surya Kalidindi) received Honorable Mention in the graduate category for “Quantitative X-ray Microtomography to Establish Structure-Property Linkages in Complex Materials.”
