Matthew Hood Receives Grants and Service Award

Ph.D. student Matthew Hood (advisor:  Christopher Li) has received three recent grants and a service award.

Hood has received a ~$2,000 fellowship from the National Science Foundation (NSF) to attend an NSF-sponsored summer institute short course, "From Nanoparticles to Nanocomposites: Processing, Performance and Toxicity" at the University of Massachusetts Lowell June 15-18, 2009.

Previously, Hood was awarded a $200 Drexel University Office of Graduate Studies Travel Subsidy Award to attend the American Physical Society (APS) March annual meeting in Pittsburgh, PA.

To further his research work on carbon nanotube shish kebab/polyurethane composites for use as actuators, Hood has received $400 from the Sigma Xi Grants-in-Aid of Research program.

Lastly, for his service on the Drexel University Graduate Student Association (GSA) senate, Hood has received an Outstanding Service Award.
