Gogotsi Receives NSF and ARO Grant Awards totalling $590K

Dr. Yury Gogotsi, (MSE) Trustee Chair Professor, has received an Army Research Office (ARO) and two National Science Foundation (NSF) awards.

"International Collaboration in Chemistry: Ionic Liquid in Confined Environments" has been funded by the NSF Division of Chemistry.  This grant will support a collaboration with Professor Alexey Kornyshev and his team at Imperial College, UK.  A recent Times (London) Higher Education analysis rated Imperial College as  the number three chemistry institution in Europe and the University Ranking positioned Imperial College at number six in the world. This is the second joint grant with Imperial College for the College of Engineering in the last several months and Drexel’s portion of the budget is $365K for 3 years.

Gogotsi has also received a $150,000 1.5-year grant from NSF entitled "EAGER: Carbide Derived Carbons with Pore Structure and Surface Chemistry Designed for Selective Adsorption of Proteins."

Lastly, ARO has awarded Gogotsi with a $75K one-year grant for research on “Catalytically Active Nanostructured Carbons.”
