Drexel Team Wins Phase I EPA P3 Grant for Alkali-Activated Cements

A team of Drexel researchers led by Professor Michel Barsoum, former Ph.D. student Aaron Sakulich, and current Ph.D. student Alex Moseson is one of 42 teams to win a Phase I EPA P3:  People, Prosperity, and the Planet Student Design Competition for Sustainability grant for 2009-2010.

The team, in collaboration with Professor Aleksandra Radlinska of Villanova University, will work towards developing and understanding a greener alternative to ordinary portland cement. The total award is $10,000 for one year and Drexel's portion is $6,000.  The team will present at the National Sustainable Design Expo in Washington D.C. in April 2010 and will apply for $75,000 in Phase II funding.
