MSE Alumnus Dr. Ranjan Dash to Receive Drexel Alumni Entrepreneur Award

MSE Alumnus Dr. Ranjan Dash (MBA/Ph.D. ’06, advisor: Yury Gogotsi) has been selected to receive the 2011 Alumni Entrepreneur Award by the Drexel University Alumni Association.  The award will be presented at the Alumni Association Award Ceremony on Saturday, May 7th, 2011 at 4:00 pm in the Paul Peck Alumni Center.

The award is given to a graduate "who, through the use of his or her Drexel education, initiative, and

 Professor Yury Gogotsi, Ranjan, and Professor Antonios Zavaliangos (updated 5/16/2011)

innovation created a new business or venture, or expanded an existing business that reflects credit on Drexel."  Ranjan will receive the award in recognition of his development of carbide-derived carbon technology as a Ph.D. student and his role as Co-Founder and Chief Technology Officer of Y-Carbon, Inc

Ranjan is previously the recipient of the Drexel University Young Alumni Entrepreneur Award, as well as an MIT Technology Review TR35 as one of 35 innovators under the age of 35 representing the cutting-edge in science and technology.  Upon graduation, he received the graduate student Most Likely to Enhance Drexel’s Reputation Award (Engineering and Physical Sciences).  Ranjan was the first Drexel student to complete a Ph.D. and M.B.A. simultaneously.
