Two MSE Students Receive Sigma Xi Grants-in-Aid of Research

Two MSE Ph.D. students received Sigma Xi Grants-in-Aid of Research.  Riju Singhal (advisor:  Yury Gogotsi) and Shraddha Vachhani (advisor:  Surya Kalidindi) are each recipients of grants from Sigma Xi, the Scientific Research Society.

 Riju Singhal

Riju will receive $1,000 towards his study of nanotube-based nanofluidic devices.  Shraddha will use her $500 grant to upgrade some laboratory equipment towards her thesis research.

 Shraddha Vachhani

The program has a highly competitive application process and only approximately 20% of applicants receive any level of funding.  The grants are funded by a portion of society membership dues, private donations, and the National Academy of Sciences.
