Assistant Research Professor Schrlau Appointed Assistant Professor at RIT

Dr. Michael Schrlau, assistant research professor in materials science and engineering, has accepted an Assistant Professor position in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT).

Michael joined Drexel as a Research Assistant Professor after obtaining his Ph.D. from the University of Pennsylvania under Dr. Haim Bau and post-docgtoral experience in biosciences at Temple University.  He currently leads the nanofluidics subgroup of the Nano Materials Group, managed the W. M. Keck Foundation project, and significantly contributed to several other funded research programs at Drexel.

RIT, founded in 1829, is a private university with nine colleges in suburban Rochester, NY.  RIT was ranked in 2011 by US News as one of the top 10 regional universities (north) and top 100 best engineering schools.  It has the 4th oldest and 5th largest co-op program in the world.   RIT has the second largest (after Cornell's) Nanofabrication Facility and most well-equipped micro-fabrication clean room facility in the nation for undergraduate education and offers the only Ph.D. program in Microsystems Engineering. The Department of Mechanical Engineering has 25 tenured/tenure-track faculty (soon to be 26 with Michael) and conducts a variety of research in bioengineering, vehicle, and energy systems.
